Auxiliary Organizations

The Auxiliary Organizations of the California Junior Chamber work to support the organization, its mission, and its members.

Each is generally made up of veteran current and former Jaycees who have a great deal of experience in the organization and have proven themselves to be exceptional leaders. Each auxiliary organization focuses on one or two key areas and each sets it own tone and direction.

While separate from the main Jaycee organization, the auxiliary organizations run in tandem with the Jaycees and Jaycee membership is a prerequisite for involvement. The auxiliary organizations provide support and assistance to the International, National, State, and local Jaycee organizations. Their counsel is often invaluable and support is gratefully appreciated.

California Pearls

Each year, the California Pearls honor up to five individuals for outstanding lifetime contributions in support of the California Jaycees. Although the California Pearls was founded as an alternative to the JCI Senatorship that was not available to women at the time, it has since evolved into one of the highest honors a California -Jaycee can receive.  The award was initiated in 1979 and there have been 122 Pearls awarded.  If you would take a few moments to review the list of past honorees at our website, www.CaliforniaPearls.org, you will note the caliber and commitment demonstrated over the years by these individuals. If you know of a current or past California Jaycee worthy of this honor, I would urge you to nominate them.

The next awards will be given out at the California Jaycees' August State Convention and the deadline to be considered is approaching. The nomination
form is
available on the website and where possible, I have attempted to attach the form to this announcement.  My goal is that we continue to offer this recognition to the best, so if you have any difficulty in submitting the application or finding the funds, please contact me so I can try to accommodate any extraordinary needs. While a hard copy of the application and a check for $75.00 is to be sent to me, no later than January 10, 2010. I have reviewers across the State to whom I will send scanned copies of the application for judging. Make checks payable to the California Pearls.

While nominations are time critical, I also want you to note that I will be continuing to work with the state to develop a PowerPoint presentation that California Pearls can take to take to chapters, upon request. The presentation will be about how to prepare an award-winning Project Planning Guide. We expect to help the California Jaycees “online” Awards Congress in January and want as many projects and chapters represented as possible.

Thank you,

Steve Dunn, Pearl 120

Blow the Whistle on the Senate!

California Jaycees, it is time to “Blow the Whistle” on the California Senators that are helping you.  The US JCI Senate recognizes the Senators around the United States that are Returning the Favor to the Jaycees and I want to make sure that all the California Senators that are helping your chapters have the whistle blown on them.  But I need your help!
